The Ladies

Family: my wonderful husband, Adam, our amazing little girls, Isla and Elin
Real Job: Human Resources Coordinator
Dwelling: a 1930’s Lannon Stone Bungalow
Homemaker tip: Even the simplest food can look elegant if you serve it properly. Presenting food on adorable platters is an easy way to impress guests.
I am ashamed to admit that: I have never used a lawn mower. (I am blessed with a husband who takes pride in his yard)
Three foods I can’t live without:
cheese, olive oil, and chicken fingers
Most important lesson learned: being a mom is the hardest job you’ll ever love
One thing I am afraid of running out of: Clorox anywhere spray…and diapers

katieKATIE
Family: husband, Bill, our boys Will and Preston, and our dog, Lena
Real Job: Marketing VP
Dwelling: a 1940s Colonial
Homemaker tip: A little love and a little light are all you need to have a green thumb.
Three sources of inspiration: bold colors and patterns (my kitchen is orange!), nature/plants, global cuisine
Three foods I can’t live without:
craft beer, peanut butter, coarse ground black pepper
Strangest thing I’ve ever eaten: lots and lots of black bear
Everyone should try: cooking with booze – imagine the fun!

stephSTEF
Family: Husband Tom and our little men Lincoln and Xavier
Real Job: Stay-at-home mom and freelance writer, marketer by trade
Dwelling: A 1967 Ranch home that changes every day.
Homemaker tip: Don’t be afraid to fail. A bad meal can always be fixed with a frozen pizza, a dead plant can be replaced and paint can cure a room.
I consider my style: Contemporary with a vintage flair. I love a sleek piece of furniture with the contrast of an antique vase or a stack of old used books.
I cannot live without eating: Italian Beef sandwiches. I am Chicago-bred and love a good beef with sweet peppers. Pizza is a close second.
Three items you will always find in my pantry: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Crushed Tomatoes and Chicken Broth.
My cooking mantra: Even foods that were destined to be bad for you can be recreated in a healthy way.

A Special Thanks: An extra special thanks goes out to our friend and photographer extraordinaire, Michael Coates, who took the apron-clad pie pictures for us! Check out his work at www.michaelguycoates.com.

Love the apple, zucchini and raspberry pie recipe. Have you tried zucchini crisp? Use your favorite apple crisp recipe except sub zucchini. I managed to slide this one by the stitchers one fall:) And yes, I did tell them, but not until after they had tried it:)

  2. Love your blog! I am a big fan of anything kitchen-or-Wisconsin-related! 🙂

  3. FUN blog! Looking forward to looking around.

I LOVE to make pies…it took me three years to master piecrust. Lots of tears and pie dough in the trash in those three years.

    Stopping by from RE!

  4. Love this blog. It’s got a gorgeous layout and very eye appealling. I’m your newest subscriber.

    Anne,

Hi, I fell in love with your pinwheel party idea for your sweet baby girl! I am pretty much copying your idea for my daughter’s first birthday (please forgive me, I am not creative 🙂 Would you be willing to give me ideas for the thank you bags? What did you put in them?

Thank you so much, an adoring fan!

Hi Hope! I am glad you are able to use some of the ideas for your daughter’s birthday party…that is, after all, why we post them 🙂

In our thank you bags, we put small miscellaneous pieces of candy for the adults. We also had some thank you bags set aside for the kids that had little toys and bubbles that I got from the dollar bins at target.

      Happy party planning!
      Anne

    Ladies:

My husband is a MU alum and saw your article in MU magazine and tore it out for me. I’m checking out your website for the first time – it’s haute. It’s classic yet modern; sophisticated yet simply; dare I say it…cosmopolitan yet Wisco. I’m in love. Can’t wait to try ALL your recipes. Thank you, Thank you.

  8. Had already visited your blog in the past, but forgot to bookmark it. Now I found it again via a WI blogroll and am so thankful for such. Share similar passions, food, cooking, marketing and design!

  9. My spouse and i have been really more than happy Chris managed to conclude his studies out of the precious recommendations he had from your very own site. It’s not at all simplistic to simply continually be handing out strategies that many others could have been selling. And now we remember we need you to thank for that. The type of illustrations you’ve made, the easy website navigation, the relationships your site give support to create – it is most fantastic, and it is helping our son and us feel that this theme is fun, and that is highly important. Thank you for the whole thing!
